The EMG at a glance

What we do

We’re specialists in adult learning and training-centred consultancy, offering flexible professional development across distance, classroom and Zoom formats
Programs include teacher/trainer qualifications, assessor and internal quality assurer (IQA) certifications, ready-made workshop facilitation packages, career-coaching, and full training centre consultancy.
We launched in 2017 and became a limited company in 2019.
Sarah Harris is the founder and director of the company and Amanda Harriott was a director from 2019 - 2025.

Core offerings

1. Teacher, Assessor and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualifications

At the point of writing, our awarding body is AIM Qualifications. This is likely to change in September 2025 as AIM have discontinued 3 of the courses we get the most learners for. We have low risk status with AIM, which means that they only quality check us once a year and we can claim for certificates as soon as learners finish their courses. This means they get their certificates quickly, which is usually really important to people.

All courses can be completed as distance learning or in the classroom / via Zoom. We try not to deliver one to ones as they simply aren't cost effective, but we do often find ourselves doing them anyway!

All distance learning courses can be bought via our shop. The link there is for all of the training, assessing and quality assurance courses. You can access the full shop here.

Ideal customers: individuals looking to gain teaching, assessing or quality assurance courses; businesses looking to put a group of trainers on teaching, assessing or quality assurance courses. Businesses we have worked with previously who have put groups on to some or all of these courses are: Birmingham Electrical Training; GEL; Nissan (mainly distance learning but we have run two sessions up there for the assessing course); St Basils; All About Me... to name a few. So they are often training companies themselves who have employed unqualified trainers but now need them to get teaching and/or assessing qualifications.

2. Course Endorsement Packages

Ready-to-deliver QPD (Quality Professional Development... think Continuing Professional Development (CPD) but better!) courses endorsed by The EMG. (e.g., Safeguarding, Mental Health, LGBTQI+ Inclusion, First Aid, Leadership & Conflict Management) inclusive of full delivery packs, certificates and marketing support.

We currently have 3 centres who are EMG Endorsed centres.

Here we have provided courses for other centres to deliver. A course in a box, if you like. But I am very open to endorsing courses written by other centres who want some form of quality assurance for what they have written.

Ideal customers: A business who offers in hourse training and has written an in-house health and safety or salon safety or similar course for their specific place of work, but they want it checked and quality assured. I would suggest they become an EMG endorsed centre and we will check and give points for improvement (or not if not needed!) for their course. Or a training company who offers a range of courses but now wants to increase their range. I would suggest they became an EMG Endorsed centre and chose from our courses in boxes.

3. Training Centre Start-Up & Consultancy

This was super popular in 2023-24 but we have had virtually nothing since July 2024 for this fantastic service!

* DIY & Premium packages for new centres
* Ongoing business development consultancy, using EMG’s RETAIN framework on learner attraction, staff retention, resource optimisation, and delivery enhancement

We have tried to put in writing what the offer is here but realistically when these services were popular, each one we did was completely different to the previous one. This is because each company is different and so is each awarding body. So we have to move carefully here to manage expectations.

Ideal customers: people who already have a business who want to diversify into training. It is essential that these customers have money... I know that sounds obvious but the service itself is expensive, applying to an awarding body can be up to £2000 depending on who they want to go with and course writing services (if they want them, which they often don't at first, then decide down the line that they do because once they have been approved they need courses to deliver) are also expenses, if they want me to write their courses. I provide absolutely everything they need for their courses in my course authoring services including a fully branded design service and prices reflect the time it takes me to do this. I don't just Chat GPT it and press go. We also cannot take customers on who want a centre setting up yesterday. It takes time to do and that time is usually dictated by the awarding body. Centre Set Up can take 6 months or more.

4. Careers & Employability Services

Services include careers advice, CV writing, interview technique coaching, job search and LinkedIn support — for both individuals and corporate redundancy support.

Ideal customers: It's likely to be individuals who purchase these services via the shop, but I have delivered full redundancy support services to organisations such as SKF in Gloucester who shut down their entire branch, as well as with St Basils, who had a restructure and offered CV and careers support to people who were being made redundant. However, often organisations choose to go with free services through National Careers but these are dull AF and extremely generic.

5. Workshops & CPD

* Covering diverse topics like AI in education, safeguarding, equality & diversity, conflict management, leadership, professional boundaries, course design and general requested staff training (e.g managing behaviours, which I haven't listed but I have delivered multiple times).

All of these are EMG Endorsed and classroom based. Some are available via distance learning: the ones that are say so in their individual listing.

Ideal customers: organisations who understand the value of classroom face to face staff training. Again, we try not to do one to ones here: ideal groups are 3 people+. The courses are wide reaching enough to work for virtually any sector. We never encourage debate (none of them are about your opinions or mine!): they're about learning.
